What Makes Us Different

We’re a team of makeup lovers who met working at a luxury e-commerce retailer. We all love shopping online, but found shopping for makeup online to be frustrating. Websites show you the pretty box a lipstick comes in, but not what the lipstick looks like on a person. The foundation you order turns out to be three shades darker than what it appeared online. You scoop up the buzziest new eyeshadow only to realize you have no idea how best to apply it.

We know we’re not the only ones, so we created blushbar to make it easier to shop for makeup online. We’ve photographed every product on models with five different skin tones so you can get an idea of what the makeup you purchase will look like on. We worked with a pro makeup artist to film tutorials that show every product being applied. We give you an entire makeup look in each tutorial. And just because we think it’s right, we only sell cruelty-free makeup.

5% of our proceeds are donated to the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women to bring women from around the world to the US to be mentored and start companies in their own countries.


Meet The Team

    Lauren Torrisi

    Co-Founder + CEO

    Prior to working as Deputy Product Editor at NET-A-PORTER, Lauren worked as a producer and writer at Good Morning America and ABC News as well as the start-ups Shoptivity and SilverTongue. While getting her degree in Communication and Media Studies from Fordham University, she interned in the beauty departments of Harper’s Bazaar, Shape and Prevention magazines.

    Emily Tozer

    Co-Founder + CMO

    Emily got her start as Associate E-Commerce Editor at while earning a degree in Magazine Journalism from Drake University. While working as a Sub-Editor at NET-A-PORTER, she launched the style and beauty blog The Glam Files and did social media freelancing for Shoptivity and ALX Creatives.

    Kathryn Frumberg

    Co-Founder + COO

    Kathryn launched her career in the fashion and beauty industry in 2012. While studying at the University of Scranton, she interned at Hatch Showroom, Nanette Lepore and Rent the Runway. Simultaneously she worked closely with ALX Creatives, immersing herself in other facets of the industry before working as Product Writer at NET-A-PORTER.
